Dear friend,  
Performers independent (Pi) is an independent artists' collective, experimenting and exploring the traditional, modernist and contemporary spaces in the cultural paradigm.Pi works throughout the year mainly in and around Kolkata,West-Bengal,India and also travels.Our area of interest is performance art and other media by large.Street art is one of our special practices. Pi would like to share a few points with you. The Kolkata International Performance Art festival was initiated in 2013 to annually open up the city of Kolkata to diverse traditions of performance and interventions. KIPAF acknowledges the nascent nature of Performance Art in India, and will always play a role in the pedagogy of performance art. As the first event, KIPAF13was immensely successful. We had artist's participating from Israel, Belgium,Bangladesh, & various parts of India. The festival occupied multiple sites, performances and discussion sessions were held in Academy of Fine Arts, National Library, Government College of Art,Jadavpur University, College Square, Chitrakoot Art Gallery and the ghats along the river. KIPAF14 had artists from Bangladesh, Nepal, Philippines, Japan & various parts of India. The third edition in 2015 turned out to be a success again with artists from across the globe as well as local citizens getting involved in it. Now the 4th KIPAF is declared.As usual the scheduled dates are 23-26January2016.Hope you feel interested to keep in touch.

There are one good and one bad news.

Dear friends,

There are one good and one bad news.

The bad one is that with much pain we the open collective called Pi have come to take this very unfortunate and unprecedented decision to state in public that Performers independent don't anymore have any association with Rahul Bhattacharya.

Anybody interested in researching about the details of complexities that resulted in this may go through the last few blog uploads and may contact the concerned individuals of Pi. 

Now for unavoidable and obvious reasons Performers independent have to cease using the facebook groups and pages that we used till now.

Facebook posts that share link of the Pi blog may be taken as genuine Pi posts. For that the new facebook group (Performers independent Kolkata) will be used by Pi.

Now the good news is during KIPAF 2016 (i.e. 23^rd-26^th January2016) there will be an IKIPAF as we have seen on facebook. We are happy to see the performance movement bifurcate to grow and take it as a very positive intervention or might be an arbitration from a perspective and wish it all good wishes and solidarity but also make it clear that it is not the annual KIPAF (Kolkata International Performance Art Festival) initiated since 2013 by Pi(Performers independent).The IKIPAF contacts as we have seen on facebook are ikipaf.blogspot@gmail.com and kipaf.curator@gmail.com. 

Pi will be initiating the regular KIPAF as usual.
