Children's Art show 2014

Children’s art exhibition: 33 paintings
Here we present 33 selected paintings from the Pi (Performers’ independent) archive of children’s paintings collected from various schools of Kolkata and surrounding districts, as well as Santiniketan. The exhibi
tion is the result of a building relationship initiated by Pi, as part of the annual performance art festival held in Kolkata –Kolkata International Performance Art Festival(KIPAF), extending ourselves and our friends to involve and interact with the children, their parents and teachers.
Pi is an artists’ collective based in Kolkata & Shantiniketan. It is an open collective of artists, theoreticians, academicians and students from multiple disciplines as its active members. Pi collaborates with concerned individuals, organizations and groups to initiate and execute different art activities and projects ranging from workshops, seminars, films, performances, exhibitions and publications. Studio 21, Chitrakoot Art Gallery and Club Green are enthusiastic collaborators of Pi to name few.
KIPAF is a festival focusing on performance art/ art performance where artists from inland & abroad gather in Kolkata for 4days( 23rd – 26th January every year) to interact, collaborate and perform at diverse sites like regular art galleries, academic institutions, public and everyday places of living. This exhibition of children’s painting is part of the KIPAF14. Children from infant to class XII were invited to participate in this exhibition. For convenience we categorized them in four groups and provided them with some subjects related to KIPAF14 theme. (Group A: Infant to Class II, sub: whatever you like; Group B: Class III to Class V, sub: my city of mirrors; Group C: Class VI to VIII, sub: in the circle of friends; Group D: Class IX to Class XII, sub: three cups of tea)
33 paintings are selected by practicing artists and educationists associated with Pi from 95 participants. These paintings show a brilliant engagement by the children to the call of Pi and we are happy to bring this inspiring works to the public through this exhibition. We express our heartiest thanks to Chitrakoot Art Gallery and Mr. Kejriwal for providing us with their space and advices. We also thank all concerned friends of Pi whose efforts contributed to put up this exhibition.
We have various plans of similar collaborations in future. We hope to get your support and involvement for an enduring relationship.
